Registration opens for LEA convocation

Registration — online or via “snail mail” — is open for the Lutheran Education Association’s eighth triennial convocation, set for April 7-9 in Indianapolis.

For instructions and access to the online registration form for the convocation and housing, go to www.lea.org/convocation/reg.htm.  Others may register via a hard-copy form LEA has mailed with the registration brochure to its members and to non-member Synod schools and directors of Christian education.

Those scheduled to appear on the convocation program include LCMS President Gerald Kieschnick, speaker for the opening worship service; Dr. Marva J. Dawn, an author and speaker from Vancouver, Wash., keynote speaker; and Rev. Victor J. Belton, pastor of Peace Lutheran Church, Decatur, Ga., speaker for the “sending event.”

Convocation registration is open to teachers, administrators, directors of Christian education, directors of Christian outreach, pastors, others working in Lutheran educational ministries, and their spouses.

The registration brochure indicates that 4,000 are expected to register for the convocation, which also is expected to include 200 sec-tional workshops and 200 exhibits.

The agenda also lists worship, breakfasts with presenters and banquets.

Registration is $225 per person for LEA members, $315 for non-members, $175 for emeriti and $100 for students.  After Jan. 14, member and non-member fees go to $270 and $360, respectively.  Registration also is available at $50 for Thursday morning pre-convocation events.

Rates based on occupancy are listed on the registration form for hotels near the Indiana Convention Center, site of the convocation. Hotel reservations must be made by March 22 to assure their availability.
