Roland Hopmann dies; former seminary professor

Rev. Roland A. Hopmann, a retired professor at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, died May 18 in a Fargo, N.D., hospital of complications from cardiopulmonary disease.
 
The funeral service was May 22 at First Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, Minn., and interment followed in St. Paul, Minn.
 
At the time he retired from the seminary in 1989 –15 years after joining the faculty — Hopmann was professor of practical theology, director of placement and executive vice president.
 
Previously, he served as pastor of congregations in South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
 
Among survivors are three sons, a daughter, 10 grandchildren and a brother.
