World Mission cancels New Directions conference

LCMS World Mission, which has sponsored its “New Directions” mission conference annually for more than 10 years, has cancelled this year’s event, which was scheduled for April 29-May 2 in St. Louis.

The Synod’s mission board is hosting a series of events this year, in conjunction with the official launch of its Ablaze! initiative at this summer’s Synod convention.  Due to the amount of preparation involved in these events, LCMS World Mission decided to cancel this year’s New Directions conference, according to Rev. Steve Hughey, conference planner.

Next year’s conference will be held, as scheduled, April 28-May 1 in St. Louis, Hughey said.

The New Directions conference is designed to help mission leaders in congregations and mission societies understand current mission trends, learn from mission experts, share experiences with one another, and become more involved in mission in their own communities and worldwide.

More information about the 2005 New Directions conference will be posted, when it becomes available, on the LCMS World Mission Web site at www.lcmsworldmission.org.
