LCEF names new CFS head

David Kuerschner of St. Charles, Mo., has been named to lead Capital Funding Services (CFS), a Synod fund-raising organization that is part of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF).

He succeeds Rev. David P. Schmidt, who retired Jan. 3.

Kuerschner, who joined the CFS staff in 1998, had been its vice president of agency services since 2000.  He previously was a vice president with a national para-church stewardship company.

Kuerschner is a 1971 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

The LCEF news releases announcing Keurschner’s selection said that since CFS was founded in 1992, it “has worked with nearly 600 congregations and agencies, helping their members commit more than $225 million to help make ministry visions realities.”
