`Log Home` video includes cabins at Saxon Memorial

Log cabins of Saxon immigrants who helped form the Missouri Synod in 1847 are expected to be part of “Back to the Blueprint: Log Home” — a new video documentary about the American log cabin scheduled for airing at 1 p.m. (CST) Saturday, March 5, on The History Channel.

Check local listings to assure availability and times for the program.

The cabins with the Synod connection are part of the Saxon Lutheran Memorial at Frohna (Perry County), Mo.  A band of 700 Saxon Lutheran immigrants settled there and at St. Louis in 1838 — nine years later becoming the largest group involved in forming the Synod.

Owned by Concordia Historical Institute, the memorial is open to the public from March through November, Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.
