Lutherans in Medical Missions (LIMM) is sponsoring its second “Needs and Resources Global Health Forum” Feb. 17-18 in St. Louis. LIMM is an association of Lutheran health-care professionals and lay people who are “committed to the support of Christ’s healing ministry throughout the world.”
The event is open to medical and dental professionals interested in serving volunteer ministries worldwide. Participants will meet with LCMS World Mission and LCMS World Relief/Human Care staff to discuss opportunities for volunteer service.
“Five out of 10 of last year’s guests have already gone on medical mission trips or are in active discussion about volunteer work,” said LIMM Executive Director Bobbie Lautenschlager. “We think this makes a win-win situation for LIMM, our partners, Ablaze!, and the volunteers.”
The forum’s closing banquet on Feb. 18 will feature Dr. Keith Harvey, who returned to the United States last month after serving a year with the LCMS World Mission team in Kyrgyzstan. Harvey, who left his full-time practice to serve an unreached people group in Central Asia, will describe what he learned as a mission volunteer, including his experience as part of the Synod’s tsunami-assessment team.
Lautenschlager said LIMM is working with mission partners to cover the cost of the conference, but there may be a charge to attend the banquet.
