Mequon to kick off 125th year with author-humorist Bimler

In honor of its 125th anniversary, Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, is planning a special kick-off celebration Aug. 27 with a free dinner buffet followed by a presentation by author and humorist Dr. Richard Bimler titled “One Blessing After Another.”

Bimler has written numerous articles, educational materials, and books, including Let There Be Laughter, Angels Can Fly Because They Take Themselves Lightly, and Miracles in the Middle.  He has served as president of Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill., since 1991.

Other Aug. 27 anniversity activities include a 10 a.m. tour of the university’s former campus, which is now Indian Community School of Milwaukee, and an opening worship service at 1:30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, where the school was founded in 1880.  Preaching at the opening service will be Synod President Gerald Kieschnick.  Tours of the current Mequon campus will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. that day.

All of the anniversary events are free and open to the public, and participants will receive a commemorative gift.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
