In his 1996 autobiography, What More Is There to Say but Amen, Dr. Oswald C.J. Hoffmann shared his thoughts about fame — and faith. Here’s an excerpt:
“I never tried to play the hero in positions I held or in any part of my life. We have only one hero: our Lord Jesus Christ. He’s the one. After Him all of us come in second — or third — or fourth. That’s the way it is. That’s the way it ought to be.
“Someone once asked me how I would like to be remembered after I die. I told him I had no dreams about that at all. That’s all right, for it is not we who should be remembered. The one we proclaim should be remembered. I am really not too concerned about how I will be remembered — or whether I will be remembered at all. What difference does it make? ‘Whether we live, we are the Lord’s. Whether we die, we are the Lord’s. Whether we live, therefore, or whether we die, we are the Lord’s’ (Rom. 14:8).
“Having said that, what more is there to say but amen?”
