Missouri Synod-owned radio station “Classic 99” KFUO-FM has been nominated by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) as a finalist for the 2005 Marconi Award as “Classical Station of the Year.”
This is the third consecutive year KFUO-FM has been nominated for the award, which recognizes excellence in radio. The station received the award in 1999.
The winner will be announced at the NAB’s national convention Sept. 22 in Philadelphia.
Synod Secretary Raymond Hartwig, who serves as the liaison between the LCMS Board of Directors and KFUO management, said The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod has long been recognized as “a pioneer and leader in the broadcasting field.” The nomination, he said, “affirms the outreach and commitment of the Synod in radio broadcasting and community involvement.”
