Registration opens for Youth Workers Conference

Registration is now open for the 2006 National Lutheran Youth Workers Conference, sponsored by LCMS District and Congregational Services — Youth Ministry.

The registration fee is $250 per person ($225 for those registering by Dec. 31).  Special rates are available for full-time students and ministry teams from the same congregation.

For more information, including a registration form, see the conference brochure that has been mailed to each LCMS congregation or go to the conference Web site.

With the theme of “CHOSEN: A Living House,” the event “will explore topics relevant to both the volunteer and the professional youth worker serving in the congregational setting,” said Gretchen Jameson, associate director for DCS Youth Ministry.

She said that senior-high-age youth “also may attend this conference with their youth leaders to participate in the latest Lutheran Youth Fellowship teen leadership training initiative.”

“CHOSEN” is the theme for the 2007 national LCMS Youth Gathering in Orlando.

Jameson said that the conference program will include “opportunities for youth leaders to familiarize themselves with the Gathering city and the chance to learn more about the new program being developed for the Gathering.”

The conference site is the Wyndham Orlando Resort — just minutes from the Orange County Convention Center, where the 2007 Gathering will take place.  The room rate at the Wyndham is $109 for a single/double room, per night.

This year’s conference follows the 2005 national event last July in Nashville.

“The 2005 conference was a successful event for youth workers from all settings,” Jameson said, adding that more than 400 workers participated in that event.  “We felt the time had come to stretch the focus of previous youth leadership conferences to allow youth workers throughout the church an opportunity to grow and dialogue together.  We look forward to such an experience again in Orlando.”
