Singles to gather at Concordia, River Forest

“Encourage One Another” is the theme for the 18th International Lutheran Single Adult conference, to be held June 30-July 3 at Concordia University, River Forest, Ill.

The event is held annually to provide opportunities for fellowship, learning, outreach, worship, and service to Lutherans who are divorced or widowed, or have never been married.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Bimler, author, humorist, and president of Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill.  Bible studies will be presented by Dr. Charles Mueller, retired pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Roselle, Ill., and Rev. Conference participants may attend up to four workshops from two dozen offered.  Workshop topics include the successful single life, developing a plan for your life, connecting singles, resources for single-adult ministry, what to do before you say “I do,” from chaos to organization, developing a positive attitude, cooking for one, using the Internet, how to start a singles group, and traveling single.

“Open forums” for discussions among divorced, never-married, and widowed Lutherans also will be held.

Registration is $350 and includes meals, dormitory lodging, and entertainment; daily rates also are available.
