St. Louis seminary plans alumni reunion

A reunion for Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, alumni and their spouses and widows will be held May 31-June 3 on the seminary campus.

The event is open to graduating classes from years ending in “0” or “5.”  Registration materials were mailed to those alumni in January.

The reunion theme will be “Church and World — Past, Present, and Future.”

Presenters will be Dr. Paul Maier (class of 1955), Russell H. Seibert professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, and LCMS fourth vice president, and Dr. Richard Warneck (class of 1960), professor and chairman of the Department of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary.  Also on the agenda is a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Dale Meyer, the seminary’s interim president.

This year’s reunion will offer a continuing-education opportunity on premarital preparation May 31.  In the four-hour session, Dr. Bryan Salminen, professor of practical theology and coordinator of the seminary’s specialized testing and counseling services, will introduce participants to the premarital resource he has developed.  The online resource, known as “ZOE,” is designed for use by pastors as they meet with couples prior to marriage.

Other reunion activities include:

  • a picnic in Luther Statue Park.
  • a carillon concert and reception at the Concordia Historical Institute.
  • a worship service, with a choir of seminary alumni, spouses, and widows.
  • a banquet in Wartburg Dining Hall.
  • special gatherings for the women.

Registration is $25 per family.  For registration forms and housing information, visit the seminary’s Web site at www.csl.edu/alumni.htm.  For more information or to reserve a room for a class gathering, contact Alumni Relations at (314) 505-7370 or alumni@csl.edu.
