Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y., seeks applications and nominations for the position of provost. The provost reports to the president. As a champion of the college’s mission, the provost promotes academic excellence and the achievement of academic goals through collaborative planning, development, assessment, and maintenance of quality academic programs. The provost works to attract and retain qualified and committed faculty, commits to the professional growth and development of faculty, strives to create a learning environment of active faculty and staff engagement with students, and plays a critical role in developing and implementing innovative programs, including the expansion of the college’s charter to include selective graduate programs. As a member of the President’s Council, the provost supervises and provides leadership to the academic dean, assistant deans, dean of students, dean of IT, dean of Continuing and Adult Education, the registrar, and the library director, as well as other academic support departments. The provost will also, in consultation with the president, serve in the president’s stead to manage the day-to-day operations of the college, represent the college at public and church settings, and keep the campus community informed and engaged. Anticipated start date for this position is August 2006.
Candidates must hold an earned doctorate from an accredited institution, must possess a demonstrated record of academic scholarship, must have excellent communication skills, and must have a proven record of administrative leadership in higher education.
