Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill., invites LCMS congregations to submit applications beginning July 1 for its Congregation Health and Hope Grant program. Deadline for applications is Sept. 30.
All Lutheran congregations — individually or in partnership with others — are eligible to receive these grants, which are designed to assist them in developing congregation-based health and wellness ministries.
The maximum amount per grant is $2,000 for a single congregation and $6,000 for collaborative efforts involving two or more congregations. The amount granted by Wheat Ridge must be matched dollar-for-dollar by the recipient.
Wheat Ridge expects to award some 20 grants in November.
Health and Hope grants are intended to seed new health ministries developed by congregational health committees or cabinets. Each project must support and promote the health and well-being of people in the congregation and local community.
Grant funds may be used for health-related events; leadership development; staff training; planning; materials, resources, or equipment directly related to the program; and contract services or new staff needed for the program.
An application and list of guidelines are available online — click here. For more information, call the Wheat Ridge office at (800) 762-6748.
