The Pastoral Care Companion to Lutheran Service Book is now available from Concordia Publishing House.
Prepared by the Synod’s Commission on Worship and its agenda committee, the new volume is the successor to the TLH Pastor’s Companion and the LW Little Agenda.
“This time around, there’s nothing little about it,” says Dr. Paul Grime, executive director of the Commission on Worship. “Our committee took the best features from the predecessor volumes and other resources and expanded them considerably.”
At 730-plus pages, the Pastoral Care Companion is “filled with helpful resources that the pastor can use while making visits, as well as when counseling members in a variety of circumstances,” Grime said. Measuring 4-by-6 inches, it fits handily in a suit pocket for on-the-road use.
Grime suggests that “there will be so many uses for the Pastoral Care Companion that pastors may want to have multiple copies for car, office, and home, so that it will always be handy, whatever the circumstances.”
