LCMS General Services, St. Louis, seeks to fill the position of manager of electronic media. Electronic media leads the cooperative efforts of the Synod’s program units for the application of electronic media, including Internet, Web sites, compressed/streaming video, e-mail, and other electronic networking applications.
This position is responsible for the support, coordination, and maintenance of a dynamic Internet presence that communicates the saving grace of the Savior, Jesus Christ; provides information for mission and ministry; and interactively links members with Great Commission opportunities.
Responsibilities: monitor electronic media, promoting its use for outreach and nurture throughout the Synod; assist in equipping people to use the technology; develop and facilitate a strategic electronic media planning process for participating units to maximize technological and programmatic synergy; assist congregations, schools, districts and other entities, upon request, in establishing and equipping facilities for the use of electronic media technology; participate as a member of the telecommunications advisory group; and report on electronic media technology and its use in carrying out the mission and ministry of the synod at all levels through the official periodicals and by other means.
In addition, the manager of electronic media is responsible for preparing quarterly reports for the executives of the participating units; holding an annual meeting with the executives to review electronic media accomplishments and plans to obtain feedback on future work; administering the department of electronic media according to corporate Synod policies; developing the department’s budget for approval by the executive director of General Services and operating therein.
Position qualifications include active membership in an LCMS congregation, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions; supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws, and policies; five years of demonstrated skills in the development and deployment of electronic technologies; communication and relational skills with the ability to work in an atmosphere of multi-autonomous boards; demonstrated effective writing and presentational skills; broad awareness of the purpose and function of the multiple units of the Synod; minimum of bachelor’s degree; demonstrated strategic planning and project management skills; demonstrated information systems development and management skills; and demonstrated experience in microcomputer-based business application software.
