Even if you can’t travel to Washington, D.C., for the “March for Life” on Jan. 22, you can still get up-to-date information and insights from marching Lutherans through online coverage by LCMS World Relief and Human Care, at www.lcms.org/marchforlife.
The online coverage is an opportunity to join Lutherans as they take part in a full day of march activities. Those events begin with an 8 a.m., LFL-sponsored worship service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Va., where Kieschnick will deliver the sermon, titled “Weeping for Her Children,” based on Matt. 2:13-20. LCMS WR-HC also will cover the noon, pre-march rally at the National Mall, where Kieschnick has been invited to offer the opening prayer. The actual march is expected to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Mall and end about 3 p.m. at the Supreme Court building.
Lutheran pro-life leaders have called participation in this year’s march especially important, as pro-choice advocates intensify efforts to eliminate protections for the most vulnerable in our nation — from conception to the grave.
Rev. Matthew Harrison, executive director of LCMS WR-HC, expressed his hope for accomplishing pro-life goals. “The value of human life animates all we do at LCMS World Relief and Human Care,” he said. “I am proud of what our staff has accomplished since the Synod formally gave us this task (of providing pro-life leadership). We will move confidently into the future, bearing witness to the world, for the sake of the Gospel, and for the least of these.”
