Illinois, Indiana churches to host CTS Kantorei

The Concordia Theological Seminary Kantorei, Fort Wayne, Ind., will begin its 2009 Easter tour on April 15, with performances scheduled for eight congregations in Illinois and Indiana through April 26.

The Kantorei, a 16-voice choir of students studying to become pastors, will lead each congregation in Easter Week Evening Prayer.  The one-hour service will include a brass choir and congregational singing and will feature a number of compositions written for the Kantorei.

Kantor Richard Resch will direct the Kantorei, which is accompanied by Associate Kantor Kevin Hildebrand, and Rev. Philip Zielinski will serve as preacher.
 
The schedule for the tour is:

  • Wednesday, April 15, 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria, Ill.
  • Thursday, April 16, 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Beecher, Ill.
  • Friday, April 17, 11 a.m. at Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill.
  • Friday, April 17, 7 p.m. at Apostles Lutheran Church, Melrose Park, Ill.
  • Saturday, April 18, 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkhart, Ind.
  • Sunday, April 19, 8:30 and 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Saturday, April 25, 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ind.
  • Sunday, April 26, 8 and 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ind.
  • The Kantorei also will share Easter Choral Vespers in Kramer Chapel on the Concordia Theological Seminary campus at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.
