LEA forms new 'EncourAGEnet'

A new Retired Lutheran Educators Network informally known as “EncourAGEnet” is now active among eight peer networks formed by and operating in Lutheran Education Association (LEA).

This is the only LEA network open — with some restrictions — to those who are not LEA members, according to an LEA news release about the new group.

Noting that LEA formed EncourAGEnet to “address the needs and potential of a growing segment of servants in Lutheran educational ministries,” the release states that its “participants are not limited to currently retired workers or even seniors.”

The new network’s goals are to:

  • prepare LEA members for post-retirement service;
  • showcase examples of post-retirement service options;
  • disseminate information about opportunities for service — resource people and resource materials;
  • encourage LEA connections to non-members by offering access to an e-mail distribution list and Web site; and
  • promote LEA membership by offering access to specific member benefits, such as resources, books, and discounted registrations.
  • To register for the Retired Lutheran Educators Network (EncourAGEnet), go to http://www.lea.org/encouragenetreg.htm.

    LEA, with some 3,100 members, is an LCMS Recognized Service Organization.
