LFL offers resources for Annunciation

With observance of the Annunciation of Our Lord this year on Wednesday, March 25, Lutherans For Life is offering three free worship resources for congregations that might celebrate the Incarnation at times already scheduled for Lenten services that day, as well as during other service times.

Those free resources are a bulletin insert titled “The Miracle of the Incarnation”; a downloadable sample sermon, “Pregnant with God,” based on Luke 1:26-38; and a suggested downloadable worship format.

The front of the full-color bulletin insert pictures Mary and the archangel announcing that she would bear the Son of God.  The reverse side explains the miracle, purpose, and implications of the Incarnation.

To order the insert or to download the sermon and worship format, go to http://www.lutheransforlife.org/annunciation.htm.

Also available from LFL at that Web address is a brochure titled “The Annunciation and Abortion” (25 cents, item no. 202T).  It also may be ordered via e-mail e-mail at orders@lutheransforlife.org, or by calling LFL at 888-364-LIFE (5433).

“The path to the cross did not begin in Bethlehem, but in Nazareth,” according to a statement on the LFL Web site, which adds that “March 25 is the most appropriate time to celebrate the Incarnation.

“God became man at Jesus’ conception in Mary,” it continues. “Since our beginnings were sinful (Ps. 51:5), Jesus had to take our place from that very moment. Part of the redemptive process was for Jesus to pass through all stages of our development. What powerful implications for the value of human life from the very beginning! Jesus’ divinity and humanity at the moment of conception attest to our humanity from that moment.”

Lutherans For Life is a pan-Lutheran pro-life, pro-family ministry based in Nevada, Iowa. Its mission is “witness to the sanctity of human life through education based on the Word of God.”
