Stoterau begins fourth term in Pacific Southwest

  • Dr. Larry Stoterau of Orange, Calif., president, fourth term, first ballot.
  • Rev. Roger Sonnenberg, Arcadia, Calif., first vice president.
  • Rev. Richard Dannenbring, La Habra, Calif., second vice president.
  • Rev. Lowell Kindschy, Santa Ynez, Calif., third vice president.
  • Rev. David Bolte, Litchfield Park, Ariz., fourth vice president.
  • All officers were installed during the convention’s closing worship service.

    Under the theme, “Inviting Conversations — Empowering Words,” from John 17:20, delegates to the district’s 42nd convention voted to:

  • ask congregations to pray corporately and regularly for their communities, the lost, our missionaries, and the harvest.
  • encourage congregations to continue offering adult instruction classes.
  • thank, affirm, and support the district’s “Covenant Congregations” — congregations that have pledged to start new congregations.
  • encourage congregations to conduct one or more evangelism training events per year.
  • encourage congregations with schools to be intentional in reaching unchurched families.
  • affirm the sanctity of human life.
  • encourage the 2010 LCMS convention to give careful consideration to the proposals and report of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Synod Structure and Governance.
