Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, is sponsoring a conference to discuss how three classical languages — Hebrew, Greek and Latin — have influenced the Lutheran church in the past, as well as their contributions to the church and culture, now and into the future.
Titled “Lutheranism and the Classics,” the Oct. 1-2 conference is open to all, and will be held at the Fort Wayne seminary campus.
Speakers at the conference will be Dr. Jon S. Bruss, professor in the Classics Department at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan.; Dr. Dale A. Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; Dr. John G. Nordling, associate professor of Exegetical Theology at the Fort Wayne seminary; and Dr. Carl P.E. Springer, associate dean and professor of Classics at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Ill.
Twelve sectional presenters will deliver shorter papers related to three tracks: Academic (for professional Lutheran classicists), Classical Education (for educators) and Concordia Tracks (for university faculty and students).
Registration fees range from $85 for adults to $20 for high school students, with free registration for seminary students. Deadline for registration is Sept. 17.
