Dr. Herman Frincke, former Eastern DP, dies

Dr. Herman R. Frincke of Pittsford, N.Y., president of the LCMS Eastern District from 1966 to 1976, died May 23.  He was 97.

A memorial service was held May 29 at Faith Lutheran Church, Rochester.

A 1936 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, he also served Hope Lutheran Church, Rochester (1937-63), and was executive director of the Eastern District (1963-66).

Dr. Frincke is survived by two daughters, Marcia Kroenke of Lawrence, Pa., and Marline (Jack) Fitzpatrick of Pittsford, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Frederick (June) Frincke of Clinton Township, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Arline, died in 2007.
