Members of LCMS congregations are invited to take part in a national 24-hour, seven-day prayer vigil that will take place during the week of the Synod conventio
The vigil will begin on Sunday, July 11, at 8 a.m., which is also when the convention delegates and attendees will gather for an hour of prayer before the official opening of the convention. The vigil will last until Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m., when the convention is scheduled to adjourn.
During this special week of prayer, participants are invited to pray specifically for the proceedings of the Synod convention and for the work of the Synod as a whole.
Daily information about specific convention activities will be available on the convention Web site at www.lcms.org/convention. General prayers are requested that “the Lord will keep Satan far away from our Synod and its convention and that He will bless our convention and the work of the Synod with the Spirit’s presence,” according to a convention planner.
To sign up as a prayer-vigil participant, go to the vigil Web site at www.lcms.org/prayervigil by June 25. Follow the sign-up instructions, which include selecting a specific hour to pray during the week.
The names of those praying will be displayed daily during the convention and on the convention Web site as a reminder that prayers are being offered on behalf of the convention delegates, the convention proceedings, and the mission and ministry of the Synod.
It is the hope of the prayer-vigil planners that “every hour of that week will be filled with prayer to the glory of God for the work of His kingdom.”
