The third annual “Reaching Out Together” evangelism conference is set for Feb. 12 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
The conference is designed to inspire, encourage, teach and provide opportunities for participants to talk about Jesus with others — especially those who are “uncommitted” to Christianity or “unchurched.”
It is open to pastors, evangelism boards, church leaders and laypeople in the LCMS Missouri District and adjacent districts.
Keynote speaker will be Dr. Reed Lessing, director of the graduate school and associate professor of exegetical theology at the seminary. He will address the topic, “Jonah: On a Tough Mission for a Tender God.”
Leading “breakout sessions” at the conference will be:
- Dr. Leopoldo Sánchez, assistant professor of systematic theology and director of the seminary’s Center for Hispanic Studies, on “Five or More Things You Really Need to Know Before Reaching Out to Hispanics in the U.S.”
- Rev. Ron Rall, pastor of Timothy Lutheran Church, St. Louis, “Welcoming the Stranger — Building a Multi-Ethnic Church.”
- Karen Davis, director and English conversation class leader for International Student Ministry, St. Louis, “International Student Ministry — St. Louis Reaches Out!”
- Rev. Dar Karsten, Ozarks-area mission coordinator for the LCMS Missouri District, “Being a Witness for Jesus Christ.”
- Rev. Quentin Poulson, of LCMS Black Ministry, “Net-Casting in Different Waters.”
- Staff of Christian Friends of New Americans, a mission organization in St. Louis, “Cross-Cultural Outreach to New Americans in the St. Louis Area.”
Registration is $20 for the first four people from a single congregation, and $15 for each additional participant, and includes lunch and materials.
