Sem's Lay Bible Institute to focus on citizenship

“Living as Citizens of Heaven and Citizens of America: The Role of Christians in a Democratic Society” is the topic of the fall Lay Bible Institute at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.  Sessions, led by Concordia Seminary Professor Dr. Charles Arand, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on consecutive Wednesdays — Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

The institute will address questions such as:  Does God have a political party? Does following Jesus mean ignoring the government? What happens when the government ignores church laws that run contrary to Scripture? Should the church speak up on controversial issues or leave that to individual Christians?

The $30 registration fee includes all handouts and refreshments.  To register, call the seminary at 314-505-7486 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays or send an e-mail to ce@csl.edu.
