Theologians, scholars and laypeople are invited to attend the 2011 Symposia Series sponsored by Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.
The theme for the 26th Annual Symposium on Exegetical Theology, Jan. 18-19, is “Israel and the New Israel: Learning about Church from the Scripture.”
In observation of the 200th birthday of C.F.W. Walther, the Synod’s first president, on Oct. 25, 2011, the theme for the 34th Annual Symposium on The Lutheran Confessions, Jan. 19-21, will be “C.F.W. Walther and His Times, His Theology and His Impact.”
In addition to members of the seminary’s faculty, those scheduled to present are:
- Dr. C. Kavin Rowe, assistant professor of New Testament at Duke University Divinity School, Durham, N.C.
- Dr. Martin R. Noland, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Evansville, Ind.
- Dr. Benjamin T.G. Mayes, editor at Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis.
- Dr. Mark E. Braun, professor of theology at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee.
- Dr. Philip Stephan, author of In Pursuit of Religious Freedom: Bishop Martin Stephan’s Journey, Tucson, Ariz.
- Dr. Albert B. Collver III, LCMS director of Church Relations — assistant to the president.
LCMS President Rev. Matthew C. Harrison will be the guest speaker for the banquet on Jan. 20.
Registration for the entire Symposia is $130 ($105 for those who are pastor emeritus). Students, vicarage supervisors and field-work supervisors may attend free of charge. Partial registration also is available.
