In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Concordia Publishing House is providing complimentary sheet music for organists and choirs preparing to observe this solemn occasion.
“Grant Peace, We Pray, in Mercy, Lord,” a fervent prayer for peace, is being offered in two settings. The first setting is by award-winning composer Bernard Wayne Sanders and provides a contemplative five-movement organ partita on the tune “Mendelssohn da Pacem” (Lutheran Service Book 777).
The second setting, by renowned Lutheran composer Carl Schalk, provides a simple SATB choral title on the tune “Verleih uns Frieden” (LSB 778).
CPH asks congregations to consider using both of these titles for worship on Sunday, Sept. 11, or anytime during the coming year.
