The Seventh Annual Lutherans in Medical Missions (LIMM) Needs and Resources Forum will be held April 1-2 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kan.
LIMM is an LCMS Recognized Service Organization that assists the Synod by linking qualified health professionals to global medical mission needs. Anyone interested in medical missions is welcome to attend its annual conference.
Holy Cross is a pilot congregation of the Lutheran Malaria Initiative, which will be the focus of the forum. The Initiative — a partnership of the LCMS and Lutheran World Relief (LWR), Baltimore — is designed to mobilize U.S. Lutherans in the global effort to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.
Forum speakers include:
- Dr. John Nunes, president and CEO of LWR;
- Linda Reiser, former president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and a member of the LWR Board of Directors;
- Jacob Fiene, of LCMS World Relief and Human Care, who will address the Lutheran Malaria Initiative and medical clinics in Haiti; and
- Rita Nickel, a registered nurse and former LCMS medical missionary in Kyrgyzstan, who will discuss community health education in Chile.
Rev. Keith Kohlmeier, president of the LCMS Kansas District, will serve as the event’s chaplain and Bible study leader, and Rev. Scott Snow, former director of national outreach for LCMS World Mission and current pastor of Holy Cross, Wichita, will lead the closing devotion.
Registration is $140 per couple and includes two meals. One-day registration also is available. A portion of the registration fees will be donated to the Lutheran Malaria Initiative.
