'LWML Sunday' sample packets mailed

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League in mid-July mailed sample packets of 2011 “LWML Sunday” materials to all LCMS congregations and LWML societies.

Although the first Sunday in October — Oct. 2 this year — is the traditional date for congregations to celebrate LWML Sunday, the observance may be held on any Sunday.

This year’s materials are based on the theme “Being with Jesus — Living on the Edge,” from Acts 4:13b, 20, with a sermon written by the Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus, speaker emeritus of “The Lutheran Hour.”  Klaus gave the sermon at the opening worship service of the LWML’s 34th Biennial Convention, June 23-26 in Peoria, Ill.

The LWML Sunday packet includes an order form and samples of the worship folder, sermon, children’s message, children’s activity sheet, banner pattern, “Face of the LWML” brochure and a Mustard Seed devotion, plus an LWML Children’s Mission Adventure poster, a flier of new LWML products and ideas for celebrating LWML Sunday.

Blank bulletins ($4.25 for 50) and pre-printed bulletins ($5 for 50) are available in two sizes: 8.5 by 11 inches and 8.5 by 14 inches.  A worship service CD is $10.  Those who order bulletins or the CD will receive a DVD with a video message from new LWML President Kay Kreklau.

Many other items — including devotions, bookmarks, bracelets, rings, candy, stickers and pencils — also may be ordered on the order form.  Prices quoted do not include shipping charges.

To ensure delivery by October, please order by Sept. 1.

Some LWML Sunday materials — including the sermon, children’s message and devotions — may be downloaded free from the LWML website (click here). www.lwml.org/resources/lwml_sunday
