Bethesda Lutheran Communities offers scholarships

Bethesda Lutheran Communities scholarship applications for the 2012-13 academic year are now available for Lutheran high school, college and seminary students interested in pursuing careers in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
 
Six scholarships will be awarded:

  • two $3,000 awards for current college students;
  • one $3,000 award for a seminary student; and
  • three $500 awards for high school seniors.

Applicants must be Lutheran and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Other application requirements include documentation of 100-plus hours of volunteer or paid service to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, an essay and letters of recommendation.
 
The application deadline is Monday, April 16.
 
To be eligible, each applicant must be an active member of a congregation of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Evangelical Lutheran Synod, the North American Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
 
A committee of Bethesda Religious Life staff will review applications and make selections in June. Awards will be directly applied to school fees at private or public four- and two-year, post-secondary institutions.

Bethesda Lutheran Communities is a provider of supports and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 13 states.
