‘Reporter’ website redesign includes RSS feed

Reporter Online, the website of the Synod’s national, monthly newspaper, Reporter, goes “live” with a new, more up-to-date design on Tuesday, March 19.

Located at the same web address (http://reporter.lcms.org), the new Reporter Online will feature:

  • a mobile-friendly layout,
  • a more efficient search function that incorporates Google Search,
  • improved archive organization, and
  • RSS (“Rich Site Summary,” also known as “Really Simple Syndication”).

Those who want to receive notification of new Reporter stories posted online may subscribe to the RSS feed using tools that support this feature, and congregation webmasters will be able to add the RSS feed to their websites or blogs, bringing their visitors Synod news as soon as it is published.

Subscribing to the RSS feed is free. To subscribe, simply click on the RSS logo at the top right of the Reporter Online homepage March 19 or later.

Reporter Online debuted in 2003 and this is its first major overhaul, according to Becky Cummings, manager of Internet affairs with LCMS Communications and one of the redesign project’s leaders.

“We strive to keep up with technology and it was time for a change,” Cummings said.
