Congregational delegates who attended their districts’ 2012 conventions are being asked to cast their votes for LCMS president between 12:01 a.m. CT on Saturday, June 22, and 11:59 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 25.
Election of the Synod president will take place electronically — via the Internet only. Voters should have received in the mail an information packet from Election-America (the company conducting the balloting) during the week of June 10. The same information will be emailed to all voters early on Saturday, June 22. (Problems should be addressed to Election-America at 866-384-9978 or lcms@election-america.com.)
The candidate who receives a majority — more than half — of the votes cast will become the Synod’s president-elect and will serve as president during the 2013-16 triennium (LCMS officers are installed into their positions in September). If a second vote is necessary, it will be held June 29-July 2.
Results of the election for LCMS president will be announced Saturday, July 6, on the lcms.org/convention website as well as the Synod’s website (lcms.org) and Reporter Online (reporter.lcms.org). Subscribers to the free LCMS News service will receive a link to the information via email. (To learn more about subscribing to LCMS News — the e-news version of Reporter — visit lcms.org/enews.)
Election of the first vice-president and five regional vice-presidents will take place during the Synod’s 65th Regular Convention, July 20-25 in St. Louis. To see the results of all convention elections, visit lcms.org/convention/nominations.
