Lutherans Walk for Life in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — Lutherans are gathering here today for the Walk for Life West Coast, joining LCMS Life Ministries and thousands of others in standing up for the sanctity of life.

The Lutheran group is gathering at 11 a.m. on the southeast corner of Civic Center Plaza near Grove and Larkin streets, according to Ed Szeto, special projects coordinator for LCMS Life Ministries. Szeto will have a large LCMS Life Ministries flag.

The Walk for Life West Coast is marking its 10th annual walk this year. The walk has grown from 7,000 participants its first year to more than 50,000 people last year.

This year’s walk begins with a rally starting at 12:30 p.m. PT. The walk begins at 1:30 p.m.

Like the larger March for Life in Washington, D.C., which was held Jan. 22, the Walk for Life West Coast marks the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion. Dozens of LCMS Lutherans also participated in the Washington, D.C., march despite below freezing temperatures.
