LCMS Worship offers petitions to pray for those affected by Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma or any other disaster during Sept. 9-10 worship services.

One-Year Lectionary:

For all who have been devastated by Hurricane Irma and for those still in danger; for those who have lost loved ones, home or employment; for those who will respond in the Caribbean and Florida and for those who continue to respond to the wildfires in the West and to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana; for all hearts that are weary and discouraged, that they may find good courage and hope in what never passes away, the love we have been given in Christ, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

Three-Year Lectionary:

Holy Father, Your Son spoke of people’s hearts failing them for fear of what was coming upon the world as the waves of the sea rise and nations are in turmoil. Look in mercy on all who have been devastated by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean and Florida, especially all who have lost loved ones, home or employment. We commend to you those in danger from the many wildfires in our western states; protect them in Your mercy. Remember those still struggling from Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath. Keep the hearts of all disaster responders from despair, and fill them with good courage. Even though the form of this world is passing away, let them minister in the sure certainty of what never can pass away: Your love in Jesus Christ. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
