KFUO — the Synod’s official radio ministry — will host its annual Sharathon on April 19 and 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT, and April 21, from 7 a.m. to noon.
The event is the single most significant source of funding for the listener-supported station.
This year, the Sharathon looks at Romans 10:17: “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
“We want people to think of us as their radio ministry,” says KFUO’s Executive Director, Gary Duncan. “When our listeners give a gift to KFUO, they become partners with us in sharing the Gospel. With one voice, we proclaim the Word of Christ to the world, as Scripture calls each of us to do.”
KFUO’s regular broadcast schedule includes musical offerings, talk shows, daily chapel, Bible studies, devotions, children’s programming and Sunday worship. See the complete schedule on kfuo.org/programs.
“Sharathon is always a fun time for the listeners, staff and on-air guests,” says Mary Schmidt, KFUO manager of development. “KFUO has been broadcasting the Gospel since 1924 because of support from our listeners, who are truly a blessing from the Lord. During this three-day event we ask listeners to continue to partner with us at various giving levels.”
Donors to this year’s drive will receive appreciation gifts as follows, with each gift level receiving that gift as well as the gift levels below it:
- for a $1,200 gift, a KFUO Bluetooth speaker;
- for a $600 gift, a KFUO tumbler cup;
- for a $480 gift, a KFUO “Day Sponsorship” honoring an individual of the donor’s choice with a donor-written message broadcast five times during the donor’s chosen date;
- for a $240 gift, a KFUO T-shirt; and
- for a $120 gift, a book of KFUO sticky notes.
“There is a great need in the world to hear the hope, love, mercy and salvation found only in Christ,” says Schmidt. “Our listeners are fulfilling this great need when they partner with KFUO. Together, we are bringing Christ to the world.”
