Seminaries offer summer learning opportunities

The Rev. Dr. Naomichi Masaki, associate professor of Systematic Theology at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. (CTSFW), teaches a continuing education class in Seattle, Wash. in 2015. CTSFW and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis have announced a series of summer workshops available across the country for pastors, church workers and laypeople. (CTSFW)

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis (CSL), and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. (CTSFW), are offering a series of summer workshops — open to pastors, church workers and laypeople — in various locations across the country.

Upcoming CSL workshops cover a variety of topics, including “Preaching and the Arts,” “On Being Confessional Today,” “The Great Evangelical Creation Debate” and “Reading the Psalms for Spiritual Strength.”

The cost of each three-day summer workshop is $140 (unless otherwise noted), which includes Continuing Education (CEU) credits. Registration and payment should be made no later than 14 days prior to the beginning of each workshop, and workshops must have a minimum of 15 participants in order to be held.

To learn more about — and register for — the workshops, visit csl.edu/summer-workshop-series or contact CSL Continuing Education at 314-505-7286 or ce@csl.edu.

Upcoming CTSFW continuing-education workshops cover such topics as “Leading Ladies of the New Testament,” “Scripture and Sacramentality,” “Luther’s Antinomian Disputations,” “Hermann Sasse as Pastoral Theologian,” “Apologetics in the 21st Century” and various classes on books of the Bible.

Credits for CTSFW summer workshops range from 1.5 to 3 CEUs, with cost dependent on the number of credits and the type of student (pastor, retired pastor or layperson). Typical costs are $150/$100 for a 1.5-CEU course and $225/$150 for a 3-CEU course. Registration at the Council Bluffs, Iowa, site is being covered by the LCMS Iowa District West.
