By Anthony Oliphant

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Kansas District met June 5–6 in Salina, Kan., for its 75th regular convention. Delegates re-elected the Rev. Justin A. Panzer, Wamego, Kan., to a third term as district president.

Also elected were:

  • Alan Stahlecker, Lincolnville, Kan., Region 2, re-elected as first vice-president;
  • Michael Hageman, Garden City, Kan., Region 4, re-elected as second vice-president;
  • Michael Schotte, Preston, Kan., Region 3, re-elected as third vice-president; and
  • Andrew Wehling, Lawrence, Kan., Region 1, elected to his first term as fourth vice-president.

All elected officers were installed during convention.

The convention theme, “Abiding in the Word,’ was drawn from John 8:31–32. Under this guiding theme, delegates adopted resolutions to:

  • Prioritize “Abiding in the Word” as a mission and ministry focus for the 2025–2028 triennium;
  • Cultivate a culture of life in the congregations and schools of the Kansas District;
  • Plant congregations, schools and Lutheran early childhood centers in the district;
  • Promote partnership in the Gospel among the congregations and institutions of the district; and
  • Engage in witness and outreach training in Bible studies and workshops.

The Rev. Anthony Oliphant is pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elmhurst, Ill.
