Delegates of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Nebraska District met for their 21st regular convention June 20–21 in Kearney, Neb. The Rev. Richard Snow, Seward, Neb., was elected on the first ballot to a fourth term as district president.
Also elected were:
- Rev. Michael Awe, South Sioux City, Neb., Region C, re-elected as first vice-president;
- Rev. James Moshier, Arapahoe, Neb., Region A, re-elected as second vice-president;
- Rev. Scott Bruick, Seward, Region B, re-elected as third vice-president; and
- Rev. Cory Burma, Columbus, Neb., Region D, elected to a first term as fourth vice-president.
All elected officers were installed during the convention.
Under the guiding convention theme, “God’s Family Together—Joined in His Mission,” drawn from John 17:21, delegates gathered an offering of nearly $37,000 during the opening worship serve to purchase at least 33 motorbikes for the traveling pastors of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania—South East of Lake Victoria Diocese.
Delegates also adopted resolutions:
- To offer to the LCMS a mission focus of relational health of ordained, commissioned and non-rostered church workers, fostering healthier relationships between congregations and ministries, and emphasizing unity, discipleship and healthier institutions through caring for district and Synod leadership; and
- To request the LCMS begin the process to develop, distribute and encourage the use of new hymnody.
