Fluegge to serve as LHF executive director

Fluegge

The Rev. Dr. Glenn Fluegge has accepted the call to serve as executive director of Lutheran Heritage Foundation (LHF), a Recognized Service Organization of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). LHF is dedicated to translating and publishing books of the Lutheran faith in the languages of the world.

“Rev. Dr. Fluegge’s time on the mission field and his teaching skills bring a wealth of experience and insight that will further strengthen LHF’s global work,” said Jeffrey Rahn, LHF chief operating officer. “Those experiences have well prepared him to take the helm at LHF, and we look forward to working together.”

Fluegge has more than 25 years of experience in theological education, including at seminaries in Togo (1998–2009) and South Africa (2009–2012) and at Concordia University Irvine (CUI), Irvine, Calif. (2012–2025). Since 2024, he has served as the seminary program coordinator in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for Lutheran Bible Translators.

“Throughout my years as a missionary in Africa, LHF worked alongside us, supplying many of the resources our work depended on,” Fluegge said. “I came to value that partnership deeply. So, you can imagine what it means to me now, all these years later, to join the LHF team and carry that same mission forward: translating Lutheran, Christ-centered resources into the local languages of people around the world and getting them in the hands of believers so they can grow in their faith.”

Fluegge will succeed the Rev. Dr. Matthew Heise as LHF’s executive director. Heise is retiring at the end of 2026 after more than 12 years with LHF.

“We pray that our Lord will bless this transition for the furthering of His kingdom as we wish Dr. Heise and his wife, Ruth, our deepest gratitude and appreciation,” Rahn said.

“We believe Glenn is the right person to continue the great leadership that Rev. Heise provided,” said Mark Angott, president of LHF’s board of directors. “The Lord has certainly blessed LHF.”

Fluegge will complete a teaching commitment at CUI this fall before relocating to Michigan with his wife, Susan, to begin his service with LHF in January.
