ST. LOUIS–Alvin Waldron, president of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League (Int’l LLL), brought greetings Tuesday (July 13) to the 62nd Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
“What a joy and blessing it is to be Ablaze! with our Synod — in sharing the Good News of Jesus to the nations, to the ends of the earth,” Waldron said, referring to the convention theme, “One Mission Ablaze!” “What a privilege and joy we know in doing the Lord’s work at a time of such opportunity — and hope!”
Although the Int’l LLL was founded in 1917, “organizations must not stand still,” Waldron said. He noted Int’l LLL involvement in “Teen 2 Teen” at the LCMS National Youth Gathering, which is expected to draw 35,000 youth and adults to Orlando, Fla., later this month. At “Teen 2 Teen,” youth volunteers will pack nearly 9,000 boxes of school supplies for needy school children.
“The LLL joins the Synod in praying that the Holy Spirit sets ablaze fires of wisdom and caring in our young people — because they are the future,” Waldron said.
“The Lutheran Laymen’s League is with you in partnership today, tomorrow and always,” Waldron said in closing remarks. “In prayer and action, let us be about the Lord’s work.”
