A two-day conference on “Gospel Outreach with Childcare” is planned for Oct. 7-8 in Ashburn, Va. The conference is sponsored by the Open Arms Institute, a ministry that “fosters and guides Lutheran church planting with childcare.”
Sessions will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and at the Open Arms Child Development Center of Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church, Ashburn.
The event is open to pastors, lay leaders, childcare and school leaders, and district staff. People from the same ministries are encouraged to attend together as parish or district “teams.”
Topics to be covered include “What do we mean, ‘Gospel outreach with childcare?,'” “Does it really work?,” “What is the process?,” “How can we assure quality and success?,” “Where can we go from here?,” and “What should we do when we return home?” Participants also will have an opportunity to tour the Our Savior’s Way childcare center and talk with its staff.
Registration is $195 for Open Arms Institute members, or $265 for non-members, and includes three meals and a manual. The fourth registrant from the same ministry receives free registration. Scholarship funds also are available.
For more information or to register, call the Open Arms Institute at (970) 667-3249 or send an e-mail to openarmsinstitute@msn.com.
