Capital Funding Services, a Cooperative Stewardship Approach to Growth, provides consultation to help individual LCMS congregations and agencies identify and fund their capital needs and/or expand their local and global mission. This includes raising capital for building improvements and/or debt retirement. The person in this position will report to the vice president of Capital Funding Services; assist the vice president in conducting promotional events to introduce the ministry of CFS to congregations, schools, organizations, RSOs, and districts of the LCMS; and supervise the work of Capital Funding Services’ contractual workers who serve RSOs, districts, or other agencies of the LCMS.
Qualifications: Must be an active member of an LCMS congregation with a minimum of five years experience selling and working capital campaigns, development or stewardship programs and processes in congregations, schools, organizations and institutions, including supervision and training. The candidate must also be supportive of the Synod’s constitution, bylaws, and policies, and have professional certification through NSFRE or any other recognized development, gift planning, or similar certification process. The candidate must possess the ability to formulate and execute facilitation processes with groups and among individuals, work in a pro-active manner, and be a visionary and self-starter with a willingness to travel extensively.

Concordia University at Austin, Austin, Texas, seeks an applicant to fill the position of vice president for advancement services. The vice president of advancement services is a member of the administrative council who, along with the other vice presidents under the leadership of the president, shares responsibilities for the direction of the institution. Specifically, the vice president of advancement services supervises the development, marketing, and alumni-relations functions of the university.
In the development role, the vice president for advancement services will be the chief fund-raising manager for the university. He or she will develop and pursue strategies to raise funds from individuals, groups, corporations, and foundations. This will include identifying, cultivating, and soliciting funds from major donors for operating, capital, and endowment purposes. In the marketing role, the vice president will ensure that policies, plans, and procedures are in place for the marketing of Concordia University. This will include the development of an integrated marketing plan consistent with the university’s strategic plan. In the alumni-relations role, the vice president will initiate, support, and maintain relationships with the university’s alumni. This will include involving them in the life of the university, enlisting their support for the recruitment of students, and developing them as a significant source of gifts.
Each candidate should possess the following minimum qualifications: hold a master’s degree — a CFRE is preferred; be an active member of an LCMS congregation; have 10 years of experience in development and/or marketing; have experience managing people and processes; possess superior communication skills; be willing to travel daily and on weekends; be able to work with diverse constituencies; and have a commitment to Lutheran higher education, including the mission and vision of Concordia University at Austin.
