Some 85 people — most of them representing Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod boards and commissions — heard speakers and brainstormed ideas for coordinating and collaborating efforts around the church body’s “One Mission … One Message … One People” vision during the President’s Strategy Summit March 2-4 in St. Louis.
The summit also involved 24 parish-based church professionals who served as resource people.
Synod President Gerald Kieschnick invited the board and commission representatives to the meeting to provide input, based on findings that grew out of a leadership summit in 2005.
In a thank-you letter to participants after this year’s event, Kieschnick noted that several board and commission leaders were “preparing vision presentations for their respective groups … to align mission and ministry directions with the Synod’s vision.”
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provided funding for both summits.
