For a limited time, Concordia Publishing House is offering a free Bible study about embryonic stem cell research and why it is incompatible with the Bible and the Christian faith.
“Changing Currents: Embryonic Stem Cell Research” was written by Robert C. Baker, CPH’s senior editor for adult Bible studies, and Dr. Robert W. Weise, professor in the Department of Practical Theology and Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis Chair of Pastoral Ministry and the Life Sciences with Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
The one-session Bible study focuses on key Scripture passages concerning the blessings of having children, God’s work in procreation and His prohibition against murder, affirming that life begins at conception, and advocating for responsible scientific research that does not destroy human life.
The study is one of nine Changing Currents Bible studies that examine current cultural issues through the lens of God’s Word. The studies, priced at $4.99 each and available only from the CPH Web site, are designed to be downloaded as PDFs and reproduced.
Also available are Changing Currents Bible studies on these topics:
- “Are You Passionate About the Passion?,”
- “Decoding the Da Vinci Code,”
- “God in the Storm,”
- “Luther, the Man and the Movie,”
- “The Bible and Same-Sex Marriage,”
- “What’s Civil About Civil Unions?,”
- “What’s Left After Left Behind?,” and
- “Why the Book of Concord?”
“Changing Currents: Embryonic Stem Cell Research” will be available free through November. To download it, or any of the Changing Currents studies, visit the CPH Web site at www.cph.org (click on “Bible Studies,” then “Downloadable Bible Studies”).
