Concordia University, Austin, Texas, seeks candidates for registrar. The registrar is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the university’s academic records and student registration processes. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Services, the registrar bears responsibility for all functions of the Office of the Registrar, including ensuring the integrity of student academic records, managing the student registration process, and publishing the academic calendar and the academic catalog. The registrar also ensures the integrity of academic credits given and degrees awarded by providing administrative supervision and evaluative input for the academic curriculum. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five years experience in an educational records environment with three of those years supervising in a records management environment is needed. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Concordia University, Portland, Ore., seeks applicants for the position of director of church relations. In support of the university, the director of church relations creates and coordinates strategies and programs to strengthen collaborative relationships with Lutheran congregations, agencies, and individuals in the region to enhance the support of our mission as a Lutheran university; enhances the recruitment of high quality students; secures financial resources for the institution; and provides support for the university’s efforts in service to lay and professional church workers. Position responsibilities include: promoting the value of a Lutheran Christian higher education; designing, implementing, managing and assessing strategies and programs to advance relationships between the university and the Lutheran church; working with appropriate offices on campus to manage, create and disseminate appropriate and consistent messages and communication to church related constituents; working with university administration, faculty and Foundation leaders to plan strategic direction and messages related to the Lutheran character of the university; coordinating, creating and managing strategies and programs for sustainable congregational, church agency and individual support of The Concordia Fund, endowments and other university funding priorities; serving as lead on the Thrivent Charitable Giving Initiative Grant, by managing and executing a plan to fund the Center for Lutheran Studies through the support of identified individuals within congregations. This is a two-year project beginning in 2006; positioning university leaders and faculty at key church-related events and speaking/preaching opportunities; enriching university and local area community though coordination of university involvement in church-related lectures, events and activities as appropriate; collaborating with various university offices to enhance its overall recruitment efforts and relationships with key church partners and alumni; working with other Foundation and university staff in the design and execution of various activities and events related to the church, such as the annual choir tour, Lutheran Night, CU Sundays and the annual Christmas Concert; managing Church Relations budget; performing other duties as assigned related to connecting the university to the broader Lutheran and Christian church in the region.
Position minimum requirements and qualifications include: committed to the related missions of Concordia University and the Concordia University Foundation; a member of a congregation in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod is required, synodical roster status desired; a graduate of Concordia University or another Lutheran college or seminary preferred, who possesses a deep understanding and passion for Lutheran education; well-connected with the life of the LCMS and ELCA church synods and its regional leadership; fund-raising experience including major gift solicitations; event and program planning experience; ability to write and speak in a motivating and persuasive manner; skilled in working in collaborative, multi-team relationships; experience in strategic planning and multi-tasking; ability to plan and execute a range of programs, events and activities with limited administrative support.
