Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, plans to host three convocations this spring to introduce the Missouri Synod’s new hymnal, Lutheran Service Book, to seminary students and area Lutherans. Pastors, choir leaders, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the hymnal are welcome to attend the free events.
The hourlong convocations are scheduled for 10:40 a.m. on March 15 and April 12 and 19 in the seminary’s Werner Auditorium.
Leading presentations will be Dr. Paul Grime, executive director of the Synod’s Commission on Worship, and Rev. Jon Vieker, the commission’s assistant director. The convocations will explore new hymns, pastoral care resources found in the hymnal’s “Agenda” and “Pastoral Care Companion,” and the electronic edition of Lutheran Service Book. The presenters also will offer practical advice on how to introduce new elements of the hymnal to congregations.
Plans also are under way to provide similar presentations to students at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.
The Commission on Worship is planning more than 250 workshops for next fall to introduce the new hymnal Synodwide. More information about those workshops will be announced when it becomes available.
