The Synod’s two seminaries are offering this fall free visitation events for men and women college age and older. Both events — held on the seminaries’ campuses in St. Louis and Fort Wayne, Ind. — provide free meals, lodging, and transportation to and from local airports.
The events are designed to offer visitors and their spouses/fiancees a glimpse of seminary life and information about how they can prepare for service as a pastor, chaplain, missionary, or deaconess in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.
- The fall “Invitational Campus Visit,” Sept. 19-22 at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, includes chapel services, a campus tour, Bible study, a pizza party, dinner with faculty, a visit to a class in session, a “president’s banquet,” and an information fair. Presentations will be given on the office of the ministry, financial aid, the seminary’s food and clothing co-op, relocating, curriculum, and the admission process. The event also offers “free time” for activities such as house hunting, visiting local schools, and sitting in on seminary classes.
- “Contemplate,” held Oct. 11-13 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will include a campus tour, a welcome reception and dinner with faculty, a chapel service, a visit to a class in session, a campus information fair, a student panel discussion, and individual talks with admissions counselors. Break-out sessions will focus on the spiritual and personal aspects of the decision-making process, and offer presentations on the academic program, resident field education, vicarages and internships, financial assistance, and housing.
