Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will host its winter 2008 Lay Bible Institute from 7 to 9 p.m. on four consecutive Wednesdays — Jan. 9 through 30.
The topic, “Paul through the Ages: A Look at the Message of Galatians in the History of the Church,” will be presented by Dr. Erik Herrmann, assistant professor of historical theology at the seminary.
The institute is designed to show how figures like Augustine, Jerome, Thomas Aquinas, Luther and others interpreted Paul’s teaching on the Law and the Gospel. Participants will study various interpretations throughout church history in order to understand how the events and needs of the day influenced the reading and use of Paul’s letter to the Galatians — with the goal of gaining a greater appreciation of its message today.
Registration is $25 and includes refreshments. For more information or to register, contact the seminary at (314) 505-7123 or ce@csl.edu.
