The Rev. Dr. Edward O. Grimenstein was installed as director, Missionary Services, for the LCMS Office of International Mission (OIM) during a Nov. 8 Matins service at the Synod’s International Center in St. Louis.
OIM Executive Director Rev. Randall L. Golter installed Grimenstein and officiated at the service.
Grimenstein, former manager of Disaster Response for the Synod, began his service with the OIM on Oct. 13.
In his new role, Grimenstein oversees recruiting and support of all short-term volunteer, GEO (Globally Engaged in Outreach, serving one- to two-year terms) and career missionaries, including recruitment, training, security and supervision.
Prior to joining the Synod staff in 2011, Grimenstein served as a pastor, educator and U.S. Army chaplain.
He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1999; a master’s degree in rhetoric from Kansas State University in 2002 and a Doctor of Theology degree in homiletics from the University of Toronto in 2007.
